If you see a “not a valid Win32 application” error when you try to install Spider Player, it's most likely because the program isn't downloading correctly. If you're using a download manager, you may want to try temporarily turning it off, or using an alternative browser to download the program.
You need to install the AAC input plugin by checking the corresponding checkbox during installation, or you can download it at a later time from our Plugins section.
If you can't play some AAC/MP4/M4A files even after you (properly) installed the AAC input plugin, then those files are probably DRM-protected and can't be played with Spider Player.
You need to install the AC3 input plugin, which can be downloaded from our Plugins section.
Spider Player's settings (*.xml files) are stored in the following folder:
“C:\Documents and Settings\<your_username>\Application Data\Spider Player” (in Windows XP)
“C:\Users\<your_username>\AppData\Roaming\Spider Player” (in Windows Vista)
Please visit http://shoutcast.com/ or http://icecast.org/ to find out how to do this.
Shoutcast and Icecast directories are services owned and maintained by third-parties. Spider Player just grabs data from those services and presets it to the user.
You have no MIDI soundfont loaded. There are a lot of free soundfonts available on the Internet. Just perform a search and download one.
Once you have a soundfont, in Spider Player go to the Options (Alt+O shortcut) → Sound → MIDI Soundfont and press the Replace… button to select a soundfont you've just downloaded. Now you should be able to play your MIDI files.
Please, make sure you have the correct sound output device selected in Spider Player's sound options.
This usually happens when your sound card doesn't support hardware mixing (which is common for integrated sound cards).
You can check Software mixing checkbox in the Options → Sound to make your CPU do the mixing and thus get rid of distortion.
You can use your key for all there versions of Spider Player: PC, U3 and Portable.
So, if you have several PCs and/or USB drives, and you are the only user of those devices, you can install Spider Player on all of them. This is a (default) per user licensing scheme. If somebody else also uses those devices, additional license is required.
Alternatively, you can choose to install Spider Player on just one device to which multiple users have access. In this case, there is no need to purchase additional licenses. That would be a per device licensing scheme.
Just choose a licensing scheme that is more comfortable for you
Just download the latest BASIC version and install it. It will find your registration key and will automatically unlock all PRO features, so it will no longer be a BASIC version, but a full-featured Spider Player PRO.
You will be able to check this by opening the About window (F1 key), which should say “Spider Player PROFESSIONAL”.
If new version for some reason (new computer, reinstalled OS, etc.) will not find your registration key automatically, you will just have to register it again manually.
Please remember, all upgrades are free, at all times.
If your system crashed, you just have to redownload the latest Basic version of Spider Player and unlock its PRO features again using your license key. If you have lost your license key in the crash, you can email to contact@spider-player.com, and your license key will be sent to the address, you specified during registration. Please, make sure this address is still valid and its spam filters are set up to accept emails from contact@spider-player.com beforehand.
