Disc Burning Capabilities?

Postby HortonA on Sat Aug 15, 2009 7:38 am

I think a great addition to Spider is the ability to burn discs in various formats.. CDDA by default of course, but support for legacy formats.. say HDCD and SACD and POSSIBLY DVD-Audio would be sweet!
Just a little thing to take into consideration for a future release. :D

There are great programs like CDBurnerXP or InfraRecorder that, I think, will help you accomplish what you want. Both are free and with no bloat - in the spirit of Spider Player :) Their authors put a lot of effort into developing and maintaining their programs. I doubt, I could cope with this added complexity, OTOH licensing a ready solution with commercial support would increase the cost of the player.

Flash players have been increasingly popular for years now. So I don't know if there is a big demand for this feature. Long time ago, hesitant over whether to implement it or not, I ran a poll, asking what devices people primarily use to listen to their music, and looking at results decided against it.

What I think would be great, and forgive me if it already does this but I haven't see the function, is the ability to burn playlists to cd.

Be the easiest way to create a mix tape.

I agree. Still, my thoughts on CD burning are pretty much summed up in the second post.

Okay, I'm new here, and this was an older post, but in all fairness, with technology these days bouncing in leaps, burning a CD is so 80's. Most prefer to use a MP3 player which stores more songs than a CD (even if the songs are in mp3 format). I prefer to store songs on a DVD, since this is in line with that of a mp3 player, Mindblower!
